Innovative Women’s Leadership Summit

Innovative Women’s Leadership is not about big words. It’s about solutions that work. On January 12, 2026, Kyiv hosted the Innovative Women’s Leadership Summit, a closed space for women who are shaping change in business, society, and government.
The summit brought together discussions on internal resilience, the international context, and practical tools that have a long-term economic and social impact on the country.
One of the speakers at the summit was Olga Veselovska, chair of the NGO Association of Women Ambassadors of Ukraine, candidate of economic sciences, and master of business administration from the University of Sheffield.
In her speech, Olga emphasized that innovative women’s leadership in wartime cannot be reduced to individual success stories. Ukraine is experiencing a multidimensional crisis—war, demographic losses, growing vulnerability, and overburdened communities that are forced to respond, recover, and transform simultaneously.
The key question she raised was how to ensure that our actions change the system, rather than merely mitigating its failures.
About the systemic gaps we face:
– the gap between humanitarian aid and development, when support does not translate into a path to recovery;
– burnout among frontline professionals as a systemic risk;
– limited participation of women in decision-making, especially in the economy and recovery;
– fragmentation of efforts between the state, the public sector, business, and communities.
Systemic solutions that, according to the speaker, really work:
– transition from working only with beneficiaries to strengthening systems around people – services, specialists, coordination, and accountability at the local level;
– women’s economic empowerment as a key tool for protection, reducing vulnerability, and community stability;
– leadership as a collective and networked capacity, rather than individual heroism.
In the conclusion of her speech, Olga Veselovska emphasized that innovative women’s leadership today is about responsibility for the systems in which we live and work.
Less fragmentation – more connectivity.
Less heroism – more sustainable solutions.
And most importantly – trust in women as architects of change, not just as recipients of aid.
