A Space for Women’s Professional Development

As part of the activities of women’s communities and with the support of the NGO “Association of Women Abmassadors of Ukraine,” a career guidance meeting was held in Kharkiv for female students of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Vocational Education in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Service Technologies.
The meeting provided an opportunity not only to learn more about entrepreneurship but also to see the real career path of someone who started her own business, ask questions, and receive practical advice on taking the first steps in a career.
The speaker was Yulia Goryun—owner of the “Kokhana” café and an entrepreneur. She shared the story of how she founded the café, spoke about her own professional experience, the challenges of small business, and the skills that help in growing one’s own business.
Special attention was given to the soft and hard skills young professionals need today, how to work with clients and a team, how to develop one’s own brand, and how not to be afraid to take that first step—both in one’s profession and in entrepreneurship.
Why are such meetings important?
Career choices often don’t start with a ready-made decision, but with the opportunity to see someone else’s example, ask questions, and realize that one’s own path can be different. Women’s communities create exactly this kind of space—for communication, sharing experiences, offering support, and discovering new opportunities.
This is especially important for young women, as real-life experience helps them better understand the demands of the labor market, identify opportunities for growth, and believe in their own ability to shape their professional future.
The project “Women’s Participation in the Labor Market: Personalized and Gender-Sensitive Employment Services” is being implemented by the NGO “Association of Women Abmassadors of Ukraine” with financial support from the European Union, Germany, Poland, Estonia, and Denmark as part of the Skills4Recovery Multi-Donor Initiative, which is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL).
