Resilient Yoga is a yoga program developed by the Association of Women Ambassadors of Ukraine (AWAU) specifically to support women IDPs. This therapeutic yoga program is aimed at improving physical condition, balancing and strengthening the nervous system, stabilizing the psycho-emotional state of women who are struggling with stress, anxiety or feelings of loss during resettlement and adaptation in a new place of residence.
Resilient Yoga combines the practice of yoga with elements of meditation and breathing exercises to help relieve tension, improve flexibility and focus, and build inner strength and resilience. This program promotes well-being and increases the inner balance of IDP women.
Resilient Yoga is conducted under the guidance of the Ambassador’s yoga instructor Anastasia Lopatneva. Anastasia is a Theraputical yoga trainer (KRI 2 lvl) who creates a supportive and friendly atmosphere on the sessions.
This program is an important part of the rehabilitation process for displaced women, helping them to find inner strength and peace in their new environment.
Yoga sessions and meditation practices help to develop resistance to constant stress and form mechanisms to overcome the destabilization of the nervous system. Yoga practices reduce stress, improve sleep and well-being. The combination of physical and breathing exercises reduces symptoms of PTSD, chronic stress, and promote a sense of calm and emotional balance in IDP women. Practicing yoga improves the regulation of the sympathetic nervous system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, and has an inhibitory effect on physiological stress.
Resilience is the ability not only to adapt to challenges but also to find new opportunities in them. Women in Ukraine and abroad who have been affected by the war, forced to leave the country in search of refuge, face life difficulties that affect their motivation and self-confidence. Gratefully to the professional work of mentors, trainers, and motivational speakers from the AWAU, these women are gaining self-regulation skills, regaining confidence, and finding the strength to implement their ideas.
