Cities and Communities Free from Domestic Violence

As part of this project, the NGO “Association of Women Abmassadors of Ukraine” supported the development of municipal systems to prevent and combat domestic and gender-based violence in communities across Ukraine. The organization coordinated the work of municipal experts, provided expert guidance to communities, organized training and coordination events, and facilitated cross-sectoral collaboration among local governments, social services, law enforcement agencies, healthcare and educational institutions, and civil society organizations.
The “Cities and Communities Free from Domestic Violence” project aims to establish sustainable municipal systems for preventing and responding to domestic and gender-based violence. The communities’ work is based on the 4P approach—Prevention, Protection and Services, Prosecution, and Policies—and is implemented in accordance with a standardized 22-step roadmap covering the full cycle of developing a local response system.

As part of the project, 53 communities in Ukraine received methodological, expert, and organizational support. Forty-six referral pathways for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence were updated; 41 coordination council meetings and 2 intersectoral roundtables were held; and training was organized for over 1,100 representatives of government agencies, local self-government bodies, and service providers. The project also supported the development of the “Communities Free from Violence” professional platform, which has become a space for experts to exchange best practices, methodological materials, and up-to-date information.
