Strengthening Gender-Sensitive Employment and Economic Integration Services for IDPs and Returnees in the Kalynivka, Zhuriv, Baryshiv, and Pereyaslav Communities

As part of the project, the NGO “Association of Women Abmassadors of Ukraine” strengthened the capacity of employment services, social service centers, local government bodies, and civil society organizations to implement gender-sensitive and trauma-informed approaches in their work with internally displaced persons and returnees. The project was implemented in the Kalynivka, Zhuriv, Baryshiv, and Pereyaslav communities in Kyiv Oblast.

The program combined professional training, cross-sectoral collaboration, and the development of practical tools for local communities. Participants honed their skills in applying gender-sensitive and trauma-informed approaches, case management, interagency coordination, and supporting the economic integration of internally displaced persons and returnees.

As part of the project, 12 two-day training sessions and 4 cross-sectoral roundtables were held, attended by 667 representatives from government agencies, local self-government bodies, and civil society organizations. The implementation of this initiative contributed to strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation, improving the quality of employment and economic integration services, and promoting the wider adoption of gender-sensitive and trauma-informed approaches in the work of local services.

One of the project’s key outcomes was the development of a Roadmap for the Economic Integration of Internally Displaced Persons and Recommendations on Implementing Gender-Sensitive Approaches and Supporting the Economic Integration of IDPs for local governments and service providers. These materials have become practical tools for developing local policies, fostering interagency cooperation, and improving the quality of services.
