A series of specialized training sessions for specialists at Survivor Assistance Centers has begun

The first in a series of specialized training sessions for the Survivor Assistance Centers team has begun, focusing on the organization of comprehensive assistance for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV).

Twenty-two specialists are participating in the training: representatives of the implementing partner, coordinators, and lawyers from Survivor Assistance Centers across various regions of Ukraine.

Over the course of three days, participants will deepen their knowledge of:

 organizing comprehensive assistance for survivors of CSV;

 the role of Survivor Assistance Centers in the system of interagency cooperation;

 modern approaches to case management;

 mechanisms for survivors to access justice and free legal aid;

 strengthening cooperation between government agencies, civil society organizations, and professionals working with survivors.

Representatives of relevant government agencies, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the free legal aid system, international organizations, and the expert community participated in the training.

The training was organized by the NGO “Association of Ukrainian Ambassadors” in collaboration with the National Training Center for the Prevention and Combating of Gender-Based Violence, with support from the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA).

Three more training modules are scheduled for August, which will bring together case managers, psychologists, and other specialists from the Centers for Assistance to Survivors. Their shared goal is to strengthen the professional competencies of these teams so that survivors of conflict-related sexual violence can receive timely, high-quality, comprehensive, and person-centered assistance.

The Survivor Support Centers were established on the initiative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, with the support of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, in partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, thanks to financial support from the governments of Austria, Belgium, Spain, and Sweden, and in cooperation with local authorities.
