Public Information Meeting in the Pidhorodnia City Territorial Community

☑️ Support begins with awareness. That is why it is so important to talk about conflict-related sexual violence.
In observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, the Pidhorodnia City Territorial Community hosted a public informational meeting featuring experts from the Dnipro Survivor Relief Centre.
During the meeting, community representatives learned more about what war-related sexual violence is, why survivors may wait a long time before seeking help, and how important it is to create a safe environment where people can be heard without judgment or prejudice.
Specialists from the Center also spoke about their work and the opportunities to receive free, unconditional, and confidential assistance. At the Center, anyone who has suffered from violence can receive psychological and legal support as well as social services.
Such meetings help communities better understand the needs of survivors, break down the stigma surrounding conflict-related sexual violence, and spread information about available support services. After all, timely support can be the first step toward recovery.
🖇 The Survivor Relief Centre in Dnipro was established on the initiative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, with the support of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, in partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, thanks to financial support from the governments of Austria, Belgium, Spain, and Sweden, and in cooperation with local authorities and the NGO “Association of Women Abmassadors of Ukraine.”
