Tool for assessing the needs of women seeking employment

As part of the multi-donor project “Women’s Participation in the Labor Market: Personalized and Gender-Oriented Employment Services,” two online working meetings were held to develop practical tools to support women in the labor market.
The first working meeting was devoted to the preparation of an assessment tool for women seeking employment.
The expert group worked on creating a comprehensive tool that allows
individual needs, motivation, qualifications, psycho-emotional state, and
potential barriers related to employment to be taken into account.
The discussion focused on:
– how needs are assessed in practice;
– what challenges arise for specialists;
– how to make the tool effective and suitable for further testing with women in a focus group format.
The meeting was moderated by Olena Savchuk, an expert on gender issues, supervisor, and consultant on international case management projects.
The second working meeting was introductory and focused on the development of a gamified
offline tool in the format of a business game for women beneficiaries.
The goal of the game:
– overcoming gender stereotypes and success stories;
– expanding the perception of employment opportunities;
– familiarizing women with four sectors: construction, agriculture, transport and logistics, and services.
During the meeting, specialists who work directly with women shared their practical experience—what barriers clients face, how they react to “atypical” professions, and what questions are asked most often.
The meeting was moderated by Svitlana Nasirova, a facilitator, certified business coach, and business school lecturer.
Why these meetings are important
Because personalized and gender-oriented employment services cannot be created “in theory.” They must be based on the real-life experience of specialists who work with women every day, see their fears, doubts, prejudices, and at the same time, their potential. It is through joint work, dialogue, and the exchange of experience that tools are created that do not just exist on paper but actually work—helping women find their way in the labor market and strengthening the capacity of the services that support them.
The project “Women’s Participation in the Labor Market: Personalized and Gender-Oriented Employment Services” is being implemented by the NGO “Association of Women Ambassadors of Ukraine” with
financial support from the European Union, Germany, Poland, Estonia, and Denmark as part of the Skills4Recovery Multi-Donor Initiative, which is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL).
